Valérie Frossard's work questions self-narrative: identity, stereotypes, intimacy. Her images are constructed in collaboration with the people she photographs, taking detours into fiction and symbolism. She develops participatory processes, co-construction being a recurring motif in her creative work. In a performative approach, the photographer frequently includes herself in her images; the staged body - her own as well as others - is the main subject of her work. She invests the liminal space offered by the photographic medium between reality and fiction, truth and lie, possible and impossible.
