The same woman dresses in the same dress and the same heeled shoes eight times, but via different choreographic routes. These different routes, that lead to the item of clothing-social veil, reveal experiences that are recorded in the body’s memory: questions, suffering, struggles, doubts, the search for identity, instinct and survival techniques.
This work is born to an urge to show everything that rumbles and murmurs inside a woman, the memory of an experience within the bones, muscles and posture, that is concealed in a versatile dress, an ambiguous space somewhere between a guardrail, a guarantor of social order and anonymity.
Habille-moi stems from a movement known as “inside out”, the way we turn an item of clothing to see how it is made, examining the stitches, fabric and cut.
Habille-moi works through a process of sterilization, socialization and extinction.
